By now it is no longer news that the “Ankara Prints” has become fabric of choice for African and Western designers. With a loud bang, the use of this African fabric has exploded from the streets of Africa to fashion runways to the rest of the world. A lot of high-end designers have used them in their collections creating one-of-a kind, charming designs. The biggest names in western fashion including Burberry, L.A.M.B, BCBG, Tory Burch, Donna Karan, Peter Pilotto to mention a few have used this vibrant African Print in their collections. Although fashion hasn’t always been taken seriously in Africa but with the growing interest in “Ankara Prints”and embracing spirit of fashion to culture; it’s time the “Ankara” secures its place on the global fashion stage.
