Feminine
fashion is taking a masculine turn. More fashionistas are turning up in
clothing with a mixture of feminine and masculine attributes. Pant-suits,
boyish blazers, suspenders, draw-string pants, ties, hats, buttoned-up shirts, boots, geek glasses, boyfriend denims,
oxfords, knickers and sneakers – If boy meets girl charm is your sort of thing
and you like to throw up some gender-bending confusion, you may be an Androgyne.
Coco Chanel, Marlene Dietrich and more recent, Actress Tilda Swinton, Singer Janelle Monae and Kris Jenner of “Keeping up with
the Kardashians” fame are all examples of androgynes.
A modern way
of styling the androgynous trend is wearing a newsboy cap with trench dresses
and heels, or pairing a smoking tuxedo jacket with skinny jeans. The options are endless – just borrow from
the boys.
One trait of androgynes is that they are Non-conformist.
